“Burghfield Woods” by members of Burghfield Art Group

Inspired by the Royal Academy’s very popular David Hockney exhibition earlier this year, Burghfield Art Group thought they would attempt their own “Mockney” landscape of the Burghfield area.

A photograph was taken of the woodland on Burghfield Common and divided into panels. Each participating member was allocated a panel to paint in the style of David Hockney. Hockney is one of Britain’s foremost painters hailing form Yorkshire. He rose to prominence in the 1960’s with his portraits and views of California lifestyle. The Royal Academy exhibition “A Bigger Picture” featured Hockney’s landscape paintings particularly focussing on his recent paintings of the Yorkshire Wolds. Hockneys work gives a colourful interpretation of the world around us. 9 artists took part in the project. They are:

Carol Adams Sue Bartlett Ken Jaffray
Katherine Attwell-Griffiths Jeff Dobson Tony Smith
Sarah Attwell-Griffiths Ruth Hennion Carolyn Stewart

These images are from our recent pottery painting workshop.
